Laureus world sports awards

The Laureus World Sports Awards is the premier global ceremony to honor the best sporting achievements from around the world and a celebration of the power of sports to create social change.  It was at the inaugural Awards in 2000, where Nelson Mandela made his famous speech about the power of sports to change the world. Since that moment, Laureus now supports more than 150 projects in 40+ countries helping change young lives for the better.

As the global brand’s U.S. agency partner, MILE 44 leads a communications strategy focused on expanding brand awareness in the United States and increasing media and fan engagement. We work closely with key media and influencers who recognize and embrace sports’ growing influence in social issues, and directly involve them in the voting process. We also support U.S. nominees with targeted PR and digital campaigns to ensure their fans are aware and engaged.

In 2018, we drove thousands of college football fans to cast online votes for the “Best Sporting Moment” of the year which included the University of Iowa Football Team for its iconic halftime “wave” to sick kids watching from the adjacent Children’s Hospital. We also generated more than half a million views on Facebook alone for the nomination video.
